Stroud Half Marathon, Sunday, 24th October 2010
What will you be doing on Sunday, 24th October, staying in bed late, getting up for a leisurely breakfast, reading the papers – sounds good doesn’t it? Well what sounds even better is the chance to run or walk the Stroud Half Marathon as part of Team Williams Syndrome. Now you might think you prefer the more leisurely start to the day but I can assure you that you will feel so very different when you cross the finishing line with 13-miles behind you because you will have achieved something and you will be fitter (although you might not realise it at the time!).
This will be the 10th occasion that Team Williams Syndrome has entered the Stroud Half Marathon and regrettably it will also be the final time. Having organised the team for the last ten years and with the team having raised around £100,000 for the Foundation, Valerie and I feel it’s time to hand over to someone else but unfortunately no one has come forward, so this year will be the last. We would, therefore, like to celebrate in style and go out with a bang by having more people in the team than ever before. If you’ve been part of the team in the past, please come and join us again for an emotional reunion. If you’ve never experienced the thrill of running or walking this half marathon and being part of Team Williams Syndrome come and join us for this final time and help us finish in style, you will be surprised how much fun you’ll have.
You will find entry forms here and in the centre of the summer Newsletter, so don’t delay sign up now and encourage your friends and relatives to do the same. If you need additional forms either photocopy the one in this magazine, or email me at mike@littleruin.co.uk. It would be great to exceed our record of one hundred people in the team and remember you don’t have to be able to run as you can walk the 13-miles; walkers start off one hour before the runners which means everyone finishes together. If you are going to join us and I know you will, please return your completed forms to me as soon as possible but at the latest before the end of September and don’t forget to write your email address clearly.
See you on the 24th October
Mike (Team Williams Syndrome)
