Ashley Shepherd MCSP (Chartered and HCPC registered physiotherapist)
I qualified from Guys Hospital School of Physiotherapy 30 years ago, and have extensive experience in the postural management of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions in adults and children. I currently work for the North East London NHS Trust in the community paediatric team, managing children and young people with hypermobility, poor posture, balance issues and gait anomalies including habitual and sensory tip toe walkers.
I have presented at conferences and run workshops for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, special needs teachers and parents.
As part of my role on the panel I am happy to do Zoom consultations with parents to assist with any musculoskeletal or developmental problems their children may be experiencing, and also to source local therapists where hands on therapy is needed. A recent call I was involved with was simply to reassure parents that they were doing a great job with their child and the correct support was in place.
when not working for the NHS I run my own business manufacturing and marketing a piece of rehabilitation equipment I invented for other therapists. Called StandSure, it’s an effective grounding device for clients who struggle to keep their feet flat on the floor during sitting, sit to stand and standing therapy. It is your extra pair of hands!
I have a 19 year old son who is autistic and together we are navigating a pathway towards employment for him.
