TRUSTEE VACANCIES
We currently have two Trustee Vacancies on the WSF Management Committee and are inviting applications from our WSF members who have business or life experiences which will complement the diverse skill set of our existing committee members. Our Trustees are volunteers who all have strong links to a WS person (usually a family member). Their duties are to :
- Ensure that the WSF is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
- Comply with the WSF governing document and the law
- Act in the best interest of the WSF
- Ensure that the WSF is accountable
- Manage the resources of the WSF responsibly
- Act with reasonable care and skill
All trustees are expected to attend 4 meetings a year in London and will have their travel expenses reimbursed.
One of the two vacancies is for the role of Treasurer, which is essential for our organisation’s operations.
TREASURER VACANCY
Overall
- Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
- Ensure strong system of internal controls in place
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
- Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.
Specifically
- Liaise with relevant staff, trustees and/or volunteers to ensure the financial viability of the organisation.
- Make fellow trustees aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
- Regularly report the financial position at committee meetings.
- Oversee the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures and strong internal controls are in place and regularly updated, ie:
- Cheque signatories
- Purchasing limits
- Purchasing systems
- Cash Expenditure
- Salary payments
- Pensions
- PAYE and NI payments
- Others as appropriate
- Ensure Accounting System meets the requirements of the Organisation
- Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.
- Lead on appointing and liaising with auditors/an independent examiner.
- Monitor Cash Flow and report to Trustees
- Create and maintain relationships with service providers including Banks, Auditors and Investment Advisors
Skills and Experience
- Degree or Qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
- Several years’ experience in Finance with thorough knowledge of financial principles and practices
- Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively

- Ability to communicate effectively
