JustGiving

Setting up a JustGiving page is the quickest and easiest way to let people know you’re raising money. Visit justgiving.com/wsf and follow the instructions to set up your own fundraising page. JustGiving pages with a fundraising target raise 46% more money.

Top tips for making your fundraising page successful.

  • Tell your story – personalised fundraising pages typically raise more, so explain why you’re fundraising for WSF, why you’re taking on the challenge/fundraising, and how important it is to you.
  • Set a target – pages with a target raise 75% more than those without one!
  • Up your target – if you reach your target, up it!
  • Set the trend – make the first donation yourself or ask your family/friends to donate to your page first. They’ll likely be generous, and it’ll encourage others to donate too.
  • Keep your page updated – post regular updates, whether that’s photos or videos, and let your supporters know how you’re getting on.
  • Thank your supporters – when your fundraiser is over, don’t forget to thank all your sponsors and let them know the final fundraising total.

Other fundraising tips

  • Enquire about match funding at work – many companies will match what you raise so speak to your employer.
  • Ask sponsors to Gift Aid donations if they are UK tax payers – this means that the WSF receives an extra 25p for every £1 donated and it doesn’t cost you or your sponsors any extra.
  • Spread the word at work – email your colleagues, share your fundraising efforts on internal work platforms, and ask to include your fundraising page in a company newsletter or blog. Your colleagues will be more likely to support and follow your progress!
  • Contact a local paper or news website – your local media could spread the word and if you have a story behind your fundraising, they’ll more likely be interested! Even a local community newsletter could help.
  • Good old word of mouth – spread the word whilst out and about amongst your friends, family, and in schools and shops.
