Fundraising – Maryleigh Belcher

Yorkshire’s Fabulous Fundraising!

“We set out an obstacle course for the children to complete their very own Mini Mudder. Our young fundraisers took the lead, whizzing through obstacles at great speed. Racing their friends to the end, up and down and round the bends. A crawl, a hop, a jump and a skip, walking the plank of the pirate ship. They zig-zagged their way through all the cones, taking in the challenge of each of the zones. The children raised a huge £1479 and Lauren raised a huge £559.

We also hosted a race afternoon and our annual raffle on the 20th of May. We were so lucky to have the weather on our side and great support from all our family and friends. A total of £2103.38 was raised. This gave a total of £3582.38 from the 2 events.

Lochlann also completed 7 laps of Pontefract Park on his bike. 7 laps were for the chromosome 7 deletion. It wasn’t until the challenge was set that we realised 7 laps was in fact 14miles, more than a half marathon. We are so incredibly proud of Lochlann who raised a whopping £490!

The team at Crossfit Harrogate climbed the national 3 peaks (Scafell, Snowdon and Ben Nevis) in 24 hours raising £10,000 to share equally between 4 charities, one of which being the WSF.

A shout out to Glenn who climbed Ben Nevis with friends raising awareness for the Foundation. He braved the snow at the top of the peak to show off his Walk 4 Williams T-Shirt. He has helped us each year with raising awareness through the walks he does wearing his t-shirt and sharing photos on his social media.

And finally, we finished our month with a lovely walk around Malham Cove. We literally dived right in (to Janet’s Foss) and went to great heights (Gordal Scar) to spread the awareness far and wide. We finished with a picnic at the top of the Cove taking in the beautiful scenery before our decent back to the carpark.”
